Tech Deck: Don’t Get Burned by Cut-Rate Bulbs

What if only half of your slit lamp’s illumination reached a patient’s eye? We squint just thinking about it. But it’s a common problem we see on service calls, and it’s caused by incorrect bulbs.

Specifically, ones that aren’t produced or recommend by the instrument manufacturer.

We understand you can save a few bucks by purchasing generic bulbs from a variety of suppliers. But keep in mind that the performance of your instrument will suffer if the light source isn’t absolutely correct.

Inaccurate Measurements? Blame the Bulb.

This doesn’t just apply to slit lamps, either. We’ve also serviced projectors for dark or shadowed images, which can result in incorrect acuity measurements.

Don’t let a bad bulb affect your diagnosis. At Bell Ophthalmic, we only sell bulbs straight from the manufacturer. Best of all, now you can order them from our e-store. Or, as always, give us a call at 1-800-255-5929, and we’ll deliver them right to your door.
